This is a personal project. "Todo detrás de Momo" (All behind Momo) is a conceptual album created by uruguayan musicians Los Olimareños and lyricist Ruben Lena in 1971, two years befor the last coup d'état in Uruguay. Censorship was already installed and a few years later their music was banned and they had to went into exile hiding from country to country. Even the very master record of this album went lost when one of the musicians was alerted that secret police was about to catch him in his flat in Paris. There's so much happening in this record. First, it was the first uruguayan murga album (a very popular performance and music style from uruguayan carnaval). Secondly, it was a conceptual album. It happens to be a caranaval parade where every character (Momo, Colombina, Pierrot) is related to real people from Uruguay, some of them politicians from that time. And since is full of political statements the lyrics are ciphered because of fear of censorship which makes the album a mix of poetry and satire. But because of this, people went confused, since Los Olimareños used to be very direct in their songs until this album. Last, this is for me one the most important records in my life and I hope someday to be able to finish this projects as a book or picture.
PS1: I'll be updating this post with new things (sketches at least) as soon as I could move forward with it.
PS2: Sorry for the text in spanish. I'll try to translate it some time in the future.
