Every year in Montevideo, Uruguay, there's a carnaval contest that longs for forty days or so. There are five different categories that compete to win: murgas, comparsas, revistas, parodistas and humoristas. The last one are comedians and they have dance and sing and tell a story full of jokes. I get to create the visuals for the back screens that function as scenery and the story is about an Upside-Down Kingdom -obviously a reference Uruguay since carnaval is mostly about to parody politics- so I developed this kingdom based in the colors they used in their dresses -greens, yellow and red- and butterflies and flowers based in their hats ornaments. I also used palm trees since is a typical tree in uruguay and parody our nacional symbols using greens and flowers insted of blue an suns for instance. The work was done in a couple of weeks and I used Photoshop for the backgrounds and After Effects for the videos.
Image animated to give place to the final video and outro. As you can see the butterfly-mask flies from his face to give place to a red screen and the Outro video.
Video Outro. In this case there was a song with an uptempo and very uplifting mood to end the show.
